Ah yes…THE HOLIDAYS! How’s everybody out there in “Blog-Land”? The pace here at Glendale Pawn and Jewelry has definitely picked up. If you’re still putting off getting a few things for those you love and care about…and even the people you’re not that crazy about, but feel compelled to get them something…well, we’re here to help

There’s always a certain stress component to the holidays and I suppose it’s unavoidable. As the certified curmudgeon of Glendale Pawn and Jewelry, gpawn is entitled to regale his coworkers of how it used to be, “Back in the day”. Now I try to avoid a constant barrage of this kind of stuff but a lot of things have changed…just as a lot of things have remained the same, when it comes to the annual Holidays and Holiday gift giving.
Electronics- Sowhat’s changed? It’s a full time job to keep up with the latest “Must have” and the hottest video or cell phone setup. Thankfully, the vast majority of the friendly staff at Glendale Pawn and Jewelry is significantly younger than gpawn and is therefore well equipped to get you set up with the latest and greatest in communications technology.
Electronics- So what’s stayed the same? It seems to gpawn that people will continue to walk around staring into little black boxes for the foreseeable future. This has been going on for quite awhile and if anything it seems to be trending up quite a bit. This will of course remain the same until a future generation is born with an iPod, iPad and iPhone already implanted between their ears.
Jewelry- What’s changed? Designers seem to be stepping out a bit on the proverbial edge with new designs, new materials and new artistic expressions. This is a good thing.
Jewelry- So what’s stayed the same? Classic is classic. Designs and materials that have withstood the test of time continue to do so. This is also a good thing. Gold and silver are not going to be overtaken by other materials any time soon. What else has stayed the same with jewelry for the holidays? Glendale Pawn and Jewelry continues to be THE destination for those, “Smart shoppers” who enjoy hearing, “Oh my! This must have cost a fortune!” when their gift is opened…while knowing full well that they scored another great deal at Glendale Pawn and Jewelry.
Home Entertainment- What’s changed? Well, it’s all about a big flat screen and surround sound now…in case you are the only remaining person who hasn’t figured that out. The big development this holiday season is that prices have come WAY down.
Home Entertainment- What’s stayed the same? There’s still a few old curmudgeons out there that have a 900lb. “Old Skool” television and refuse to get a new one until it breaks…gpawn pleads guilty to the charge.
Firearms- What’s changed? Well, you can now buy high quality firearms for your collection online at our Gunbroker.com auctions. Yup, no more getting out and dealing with the crowds at the big box stores…you can even shop in your pj’s. (We won’t tell…)
Firearms- What’s stayed the same? Firearms are still EXCELLENT collateral for a loan, so if you need some holiday cash (Who doesn’t?) then bring your firearms to Glendale Pawn and Jewelry and you’ll have something in your wallet real fast. If you have some firearms that you’d like to get rid of, we can also buy them directly from you and get you the cash that you need.
While it’s entertaining to give some thought to how the Holiday gifts have changed, gpawn is of the opinion that the Holiday season is really about family. Wow, what doesn’t change in a family? Folks arrive, folks depart and life goes on. It seems to gpawn that family is always in a state of change. We still welcome those who arrive and we see ourselves in their eyes. We work hard to make them a little bit better than we are and watch in amazement as they actually become a lot better than we are. We honor those who are gone and keep their memory alive, because they were who WE are and THAT will never change…and the cycle continues…and this is a good thing.
If you’re away from your family this holiday season or don’t have any direct family, keep in mind that we’re of the opinion that we’re all in this together and we’re ALL family. So feel free to tell folks that you’re related to gpawn and the good people at Glendale Pawn and Jewelry. If they don’t believe you, bring them on down to our shop and we’ll vouch for you…because it’s true.
