We’re at the start of the Holiday Season now and there’s probably going to be a few shovel s of additional stress dumped on us in the coming days. Gpawn doesn’t really think that there’s any way of avoiding this increase in our daily “Brain-load”, but how we react to it and how we deal with it, can make the difference in keeping us emotionally healthy…at least healthy enough that we don’t wind up with people pointing at us and staring strangely.

So, with these rambling thoughts in mind, gpawn would like to present you with his best advice to help stay a little saner this holiday season:

Want to feel a nice sense of happiness while doing your holiday shopping? Well, keep it local by shopping local! Oh sure, the “Big Box” stores will be open 24/7 with outrageously low prices on a few “Lost Leaders” (That may or may not be in stock) just to get folks into their gigantic stores. This is all well and good except for these important facts which apply to Glendale Pawn and Jewelry and probably the majority of other locally owned businesses:
1) The bulk of the money that we spend in the huge retail stores…does not stay in our community.
2) When you shop local, by patronizing family owned stores that are assets to your community, the vast majority of your money stays within your community. The local store owner can upgrade his shops, using local contractors and hire local staff at higher wages than the big box stores.
3) There is no way a gigantic retail store can beat Glendale Pawn and Jewelry for having the highest quality items, especially jewelry, for the lowest possible price. It simply cannot be done. You will also not find a friendlier and more helpful staff than the great people at Glendale Pawn and Jewelry.
4) You will not get lost and be unable to find your car in our parking lot.

Eat well, get as much rest as you can and take your vitamins…the holiday season is a marathon and not a sprint. Take care of yourself. Remember that the holidays are supposed to be a time of thankfulness and an expression of caring for those who are important to you. The traditional giving of gifts in gpawn’s opinion, was not supposed to be a contest to see who can buy the most, spend the most and receive the most, but sharing and caring.
