We get asked frequently if Glendale Pawn & Jewelry is anything like the popular television show, Pawn Stars. The answer is always, “Well, yes and no…”

As we’ve stated in an earlier post, this isn’t Las Vegas it’s Glendale, Arizona and the vast majority of our customers (99.9%) are just working folks like you and me. They have families, bills and soccer games on the weekend. The thing that they share with each other is that they want to save a huge amount of money purchasing top-quality things, they have stuff to sell and don’t want to mess around with an online advertisement (and strangers coming to their homes) or they’ve been hit with some unforeseen expense and they need a quick loan to get them over the proverbial “hump”. In other words, if you step into our shop, you probably won’t be bothered by camera crews and the associated commotion of filming a weekly television show.

However once in awhile we see some fairly unusual things come through the door and we certainly have our share of”Little Miracles”.

The whole retro-vintage style is getting increasingly popular and seeing this old 8mm movie projector arrive on the scene was pretty cool. We think it would make a superb home decoration for sure, but what if somebody took it a step further? What if somebody had some old movies in the attic that haven’t seen the light of day for many years? We’d venture that there are some long forgotten memories on those old reels.  Perhaps some relatives that have been gone for quite some time could be seen in an era that has long since passed? Now that probably wouldn’t be a huge thing probably but we think it would qualify as a little miracle and put a smile on a face or two.

We think you should either decorate with this vintage projector, or take a look at those old 8mm movies that you haven't seen in years.

We also get a lot of musical instruments here at Glendale Pawn & Jewelry. Consequently we have quite a few musicians that stop by and try out the guitars, horns and keyboards. Last week an older gentleman, who has been in several times (He usually buys quite a few of our DVD’s when he comes in) and I had no idea that he was a musician, until he found one of our keyboards and sat down to play. Now he’s not a concert quality musician, but he’s really quite good  and while it’s doubtful that we’ll see him performing elsewhere, we thought it was a pretty neat little miracle and it definitely brought a smile to a few faces here (both staff and employees)

We can verify that a pretty good musician was the most recent person to play this keyboard.

So perhaps the moral of this rambling blog post is that there aren’t any film crews here, as there are in the Las Vegas pawn shop of television fame, but in our own way we have many things to celebrate here. We celebrate helping people each day and we celebrate our customers who never fail to show us a little miracle or two.

Thanks again for stopping by,

gpawn
